Chat With Strangers – Sites like Omegle

Nov 24 2011 Published by under General

Everyone is on the look for chatting with a stranger over the interenet these days. But still they are concerned about their privacy too. They don’t want to give their details or create a username that certainly includes details about them.

Omegle

Omegle is one such online chatting website which offers its users to chat with strangers, no matter where they are located. It also doesn’t ask them for any user information, and this particular feature has made Omegle popular whereby it has become more popular that it is said to receive 1 million page views a day. Leif K-Brooks is the owner of Omegle and he was a teen in high school when he created this website. Being anonymous online is one big reason that Omegle is being cherished for. It assists the users to chat online in a safe manner and also allows them to chat with people present all over the world.

omegle Chat With Strangers Sites like Omegle

How Sites Like Omegle Work

Omegle also provides video chat option too. Users can afford to chat with strangers using their webcam.

Spy mode which is in its beta stage, is available for the users now. It allows the users to ask a question, and watch two strangers discuss it infront of them, provided the strangers offer themselves to be seen discussing. However, the user who asks the question will not be able to participate in the conversation. Once the conversation is over, the user can download the log, copy paste the conversation, post it to their Facebook wall or share it on Tumblr too. Some users have started to display obscene and vulgar content in this page, hope Omegle solves this issue.

Omegle utilizes anti-spam software called as “reCAPTCHA”, that prevents spam messages that might be sent by automated bots.

Omegle has added up a new feature which allows the users to connect using Facebook Connect which offers to meet strangers who have common interests. This particular feature does this job by monitoring the pages which the users have choosen to “Like” on Facebook. But still sometimes the strangers are not only connected with strangers with common interest, they might be connected to total random strangers as usual too, which results due to the search for common interests time out.

HTTP polling is a new feature that the other website “ChatRoulette” is using at present wherein every single user sends a message to the server in couple of seconds, which causes the server to process more messages per second.

Omegle’s creator K-Brooks doesn’t seem to like this idea and he quotes that he would continue to enhance the experience of the user by boosting the spam protection, streamlining the UI, and developing it to be used in further more platforms.

How to Install Windows XP from USB Device

Nov 22 2011 Published by under Windows XP

For the last 15 years or so, Microsoft Windows has been coming on CDs or DVDs. But it’s increasingly common to find computers that don’t have disc drives. So how do you install Windows on those computers?

Windows XP can be installed from a USB key. This may be required if the optical drive is not working on the PC or if the user has a notebook. Then the Windows XP can be required to be booted from a USB flash drive. For this, a bootable USB key must be created. This process requires certain requirements like a USB key with a capacity of 1 or 2 GB, an official CD of the Windows OS, WinSetup from USB software and a PC with both the USB key and the CD ROM drive. Additionally, the key must be fast to avoid interruptions during the installation procedure and most importantly the configuration of the system must accept the boot on the USB key. Once the XP is downloaded, the user can proceed to install the XP with this key.

Prerequisites

  • A USB key (capacity: minimum 1 or 2 GB)
  • A Windows XP CD ( official version )
  • A PC with a CD player and a USB key
  • Your USB key is bootable.
  • Your machine accepts the boot on your USB key (see in the BIOS).
  • Your key is fast enough to avoid delays during installation of the OS.

Points to be ensured before start

To install Windows XP from USB stick, we must copy the setup files from a Windows CD/DVD (or from a Windows XP ISO file) onto a USB disk. You can then “boot” from the USB drive into the Windows setup program and install the system.

Preparing a Bootable USB-Drive with USB_MultiBoot.cmd Involves

  • Format USB-stick like a Bootable Harddisk Drive with NTLDR BootSector  using PeToUSB or HP USB Format Tool
  • Select from the Main Menu of USB_MultiBoot.cmd
1 – Give XP Setup Source Folder and give UserData for XP Setup
    2 – Give USB-Drive Target
3 – Make Bootable USB-Drive with XP Setup Folders

Installing XP from USB requires a Reboot from USB-Drive and Select from Boot Menu: 1. Begin TXT Mode Setup Windows XP

Download from BootLand Forum: USB_MultiBoot_10.zip.

Install Windows XP

Once downloaded, run the installation software and follow the installation wizard. At the end of the installation, the software will launch.

  • Step 1: Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD ROM drive and click Browse and Open the WinToFlash website (click and a new window will open) and click the “Last version via FTP” link, then save the file.install windows XP1 How to Install Windows XP from USB Device

  • Step 10: Click “Next” and continue.
  • Step 11: Select the “I accept” option and click “Continue”.
  • Step 12: If your USB disk is not empty, you will be prompted to delete everything on it. Click “OK” if you are happy for everything on the disk to be deleted.
  • Step 13: Click on the green tick button.
  • Step 14: Here you will see WinToFlash copies the setup files from the Windows disc to the USB disk.
