Make your Permalinks Perfect – SEO Tip
Permalinks plays very important role in search engine optimization of any website or blog, for that you need to pay special attention towards it. In this article, I will discuss how you can make your website or blogs permalinks a seo perfect. As you all know that its necessary to optimize each articles or pages of our website in order to increase rank in search engines.
Permalinks is what attracts visitors from search engines, if it is optimized then its better chances to get better visitors from search engines. But there are lots of webmasters who doesn’t aware about the importance of Permalinks. Below is some steps that you can follow for better permalinks.
1. Avoid using underscores, instead of using underscores you can use dashes to separate words in filenames.
2. Dont include post date in permalinks.
3. Make sure you are using only post name in permalinks ( ex. www.yourwebsite.com/my-new-post)
4. Try to include keywords in permalinks (very important), better keywords = better visitors.
In the first step I have said to avoid using underscores, its because there are lots of search engines available and many of them doesn’t recognize underscores. Of course, Google and Yahoo are able to recognize keywords either way, however, for maximum compatibility, use the dash.

My suggestion is date-year-title structure is good.
@ Sudharsan, Use Permalinks Migration Plugin as provided in This Post. After that no problem will be occured whenever you might change anything in permalinks.
I dont know why are you preferring date-year-structure in the permalinks. You all know there is no importance of doing so.
This is what I am also saying, not to underscores.

It is actually important not to use underscores and use Dashes! I heard about it in an video from Matt Cutts.
yes, some times, if you submitted the url any where (bookmarking, social media etc),
such clicks will leads to page cannot found, your current structure is good.

@ Sudharshan , Yes you might start getting 404 error if you change your premalink frequently.
